South By South West competition, self-identifying as “the world’s main competition celebrating the convergence of creativity, tradition and expertise”, is coming to London subsequent summer season.
The competition, which has been staged in Austin, Texas since 1987, and which has a fame for showcasing the perfect up-and-coming artists within the music world, along with offering unparalleled networking alternatives for the music business, will take over venues, galleries, golf equipment and eating places in Shoreditch, east London for every week in June 2025.
In a press launch asserting the occasion, organisers say that SXSW London will “carry its personal distinctive persona, pushed by London’s internationally famend cultural life and creativity, its standing as a worldwide assembly place, and its proximity to different main artistic and tech centres in Europe.”
“As a life-long fan of SXSW I actually consider that it’s greater than an occasion – it’s a motion, a platform the place the world’s best minds, musicians and motivators come to share their ardour and their imaginative and prescient of the long run,” says Randel Bryan, Managing Director of SXSW London.

The 2024 staging of SXSW in Austin was boycotted by scores of artists, after it was revealed that the US military and defence contractors which provide weapons to Israel are amongst its sponsors.
All 12 Irish bands booked to carry out at official showcases withdrew from the competition, with Belfast rap trio Kneecap stating that their resolution was taken to “spotlight the unacceptable deep hyperlinks the competition has to weapons corporations and the U.S. navy who at this very second are enabling a genocide and famine in opposition to a trapped inhabitants.”
“We can’t in good conscience attend an arts competition that has ‘The US Military’ as a ‘Tremendous Sponsor’ and and is platforming RTX (previously Raytheon), Collins Aerospace, and BAE Programs, the very corporations promoting the weapons which have murdered 31,000 Palestinians, over 21,000 of them ladies and youngsters.”
It has not but been revealed who shall be sponsoring the competition’s London version.
